Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has said that he has no hope for the consultative meeting called by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, which was supposed to be held today, but has been postponed.

President Deni said that Somalia does not need “sterile” meetings that are not valid for holding. He said that in the current situation, it does not need consultative meetings, but a joint decision is needed.

“In any case, the government does not need consultation when it is in such a situation. I will give my opinion and the decision is not mine. It needs real meetings where a joint decision is reached, and everyone plays their part,” said President Deni.

Deni proposed holding an inclusive conference with the participation of the Federal Government of Somalia, the member states of the FGS, former leaders and individuals who are indispensable to finding a solution to Somalia’s affairs, since, as he said, the National Consultative Council (NCC) has retired.

He praised the international community for their role in building the Somali state, saying that they still need to help in the current situation the country is going through.

President Deni’s statement came as a consultative conference was scheduled to take place today, which was recently called by the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. It is not known why the conference was canceled.

Recently, the opposition refused to attend the conference, saying that the president had not presented the agenda for the conference.
