Former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has strongly condemned the exclusion of Kaxda district from the voting districts, saying its people are among the largest taxpayers to the government.
“It is unfortunate that the Federal Government leaders are separating the capital’s population and pitting them against each other, while excluding some districts in Mogadishu, such as Kaxda district, whose people are among the government’s taxpayers,” Sheikh Sharif said.
Sheikh Sharif also condemned the fact that the people of Kaxda district, who are known to be denied their rights as a district, are now being subjected to social pressure and the desire to force them at gunpoint to register with armed forces and conduct a one-sided election process.
Former President Sheikh Sharif has declared that he will always stand by the right of Somali citizens to participate in free and fair elections on an equal basis.
Finally, Sharif said he is warning the electoral commission to refrain from putting pressure on the people of the capital, who now appear to be forcing an election process that is not in agreement.
Yesterday, some traditional elders in Kaxda district said they were informed to go to another district to collect their voting cards,They said that the district was taken to the IDPs and filled out a form to show people that the Kaxda District is in the process of collecting the Voting Card. So far, the Electoral Commission has not officially addressed the concerns and allegations raised by some of the elders of the district regarding the registration of the people of Kaxda District in the Dharkeenlay district.
