A large-scale conference between registered political organizations and the Federal Government has officially opened. It was attended by senior leaders from various government agencies, including the Minister of Justice, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference was organized by the National Forum Organizing Committee, chaired by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hassan Moalim Mohamud.

The conference focuses on security, constitutional and electoral issues, and is a prelude to the general conference called by the President of the Federal Government, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to achieve national political consensus.

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government, Hassan Moalim Mohamud, who opened today’s consultation meeting between the Government and political organizations to discuss the fateful issues of the country, said that the country has been without a political organization system for a long time, but the Federal Government is seriously engaged in restoring that system, with the first step being to review the Constitution.

“For a long time, the country has lacked a system of political organizations. The current Somali government is sincerely working to restore that system based on political organizations, with the first step being the revision of the country’s Constitution. Today, we have returned to the right path that we have been missing for a long time,” said Minister Hassan Ma’alin Mohamud.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Omar Ali (Ali Balcad), who spoke at the Consultative Meeting of Political Organizations of the country and the Federal Government, indicated that Somalia is going through a new stage in building a democratic electoral system, and this meeting paves the way for a national consultation to ensure that the Somali people directly elect their representatives, adding that the former leaders who ruled the country are part of the platform announced by the President.

The Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office, Hirsi Jama Gani, expressed that the country has turned to political organizations, and stated that the paths that have been paved for us to close must be supported by the entire nation, and this is the only way out of the long-standing conflict.

Kamal Guutale, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, said that one person, one vote election is an important pillar of state-building, and that consultation and national unity are needed.

Prof. Abdullahi Hirsi Diirshe (Daacad), who spoke on behalf of the Political Parties, warmly welcomed the meeting between the Federal Government and political parties, stating that they support the national platform called for by the President, describing it as a fateful step that strengthens unity and political dialogue.

The meeting was also addressed by the leaders of the registered political organizations, led by the chairman of the People’s Political Organization, Ali Mohamed Nuux Timajilic, who said that the organizations should first participate in the organizing committee of the conference, since the government is an organization equal to us, and the conference is organized only by the government, and the organizations should consult with the people who deserve to participate in the conference announced by the president.

In conclusion, there were no agreed-upon results or decisions from the conference, however, time was spent on different aspects and ideas were exchanged among the parties participating in the conference.
