Heavy rains that have been falling for hours in Mogadishu have caused the death of two people and the destruction of major roads in Mogadishu.

The two people were identified as a mother and child whose house collapsed in the Xamar Jajab district of the Banadir region, as confirmed by the district administration, which is still inspecting the areas affected by the rain.

The rains fell for more than 8 hours in Mogadishu, cutting off several roads that were important for public and vehicle movement.

The areas most affected include the latest roads built by the Banadir regional administration, especially those built in the Howlwadaag district. In some areas, it was reported this morning that the roads are flooded and vehicles are passing through the neighborhoods.

The Banadir regional administration has called on the public to stay away from flooded areas and has instructed all district governors to help the people who have been affected by the water, especially those living in old houses.
