More news is emerging from a bombing attack in Yemen that targeted a prison run by Yemen’s Houthi rebels that was holding African migrants, including Somalis.
Ibrahim Abdulqadir Ma’alim, a Somali living in Yemen, was among those who went to the scene when the bombing occurred and said he saw heavy damage in the prison that was bombed.
“The number of Somalis was small, 3 days ago many Somalis who were there were taken out,” said Ibrahim, who also told the BBC what he knew about the number of people who had returned to the camp and how many were Somalis.
“The dead are 90, the injured are 25, it is said that 3 to 4 Somalis were there, but we do not have the truth yet,” he said, telling the BBC.
Ibrahim said they are monitoring the situation of Somalis who are caught smuggling to Saudi Arabia.
“We are very aware of the migrants. Many people are injured and killed when they enter the Saudi border. The community is monitoring these people,” said Ibrahim, adding, “Any Somalis who are captured are handed over to minimize the loss.”
