The Federal Government of Somalia has confirmed that the President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, will attend the National Consultative Council meeting to be held in Mogadishu.
According to a senior government official, the Puntland President has been formally invited to attend the meeting.
The meeting is focused on resolving existing political differences and uniting the country in a direction for development.
Reliable sources indicate that the Puntland President’s trip to Mogadishu is being facilitated by the international community, with representatives of the international community meeting with President Deni several times in Garowe and Bosaso. The meetings discussed the importance of Puntland returning to the negotiating table.
It is worth noting that President Deni has not attended the Consultative Council meetings since December 2022.
The relationship between the Federal Government and the Puntland administration has deteriorated, and cooperation and meetings between the two sides have completely stopped.
