The Minister of Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Ismail Fartaag, said that the President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe), cannot participate in the consultative forum meeting called by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for the heads of state, until he withdraws from the election that the Federal Government has described as illegal.
Minister Fartaag said that the election held in Kismayo was fraudulent and did not comply with the country’s procedures and constitution.
He said that if Ahmed Madoobe wants to participate in the forum meeting and political consultations in the country, he needs to publicly withdraw from that election.
The Minister of Security also said that local council elections under the one-person, one-vote system will be held in six districts in Gedo region and two districts in Lower Juba region.
He added that if Ahmed Madoobe refuses to hold elections in Kismayo and Afmadow, the Federal Government will hold those elections in six districts under Gedo region.
