New troops from Djibouti landed in Beledweyne, the capital of Hiran region, today.

New troops from Djibouti have arrived in Beledweyne, Hiran region, as part of the new AUSSOM operation, and have been deployed to Buula Burde and Jalalaqsi, two strategic towns in Hiran region.

The Commander of the Fourth Division of the AUSSOM operation, Col. Said Waaberi, and other officers from the Somali National Army welcomed them at the Ugaas Khaliif Airport in Beledweyne.

The officers who welcomed the new troops and spoke to the media emphasized their role in the joint operations of the Somali National Army against Al-Shabaab and ensuring security in the central regions of Somalia.

These new troops will join the fight against Al-Shabaab, which has recently launched heavy attacks in areas of Hiran region.

The Djiboutian troops of the African Union are protecting important administrative centers, airports, and supply routes used by the AUSSOM forces.
