The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has provided further details about an airstrike it carried out in areas southeast of Bosaso in the Bari region.
A statement from AFRICOM said the strike was carried out at the request of the Somali government on Tuesday, April 1.
The command also noted in its statement that the strike killed multiple ISIS members and that there were no civilian casualties.
The statement from AFRICOM also stated that the United States will continue airstrikes against ISIS, working with Somali government forces to counter the security threat the group poses to Somalia.
However, the US government is one of the first governments to support Somalia in airstrikes targeting ISIS and Al-Shabaab.
