The leader of Ahlu Sunna Waljamaa in the Central Regions, Sheikh Mohamed Shakir, said that there is a redeployment of Ahlu Sunna forces that liberated the Central Regions from Al Shabaab and are joining the fight against Al Shabaab.
Sheikh Shakir indicated that he discussed this issue with the highest-ranking General of the Somali military, General Odawaa Yusuf Raage, who revealed that he welcomed the plan.
Sheikh Shakir noted that Somali politicians are supporting this issue and that the government is aware of the redeployment of these forces, benefiting from their experience in the battles they fought in the Central Regions.
This issue was also welcomed and supported by the MDD Political Organization, with the Chairman of the Organization, Ali Mohamed Nuuh Timajilic, stating that this task is exemplary and commending the leadership of the organization, Tawfiq Sheikh Shakir, and the leaders of the organization. Chairman Timajilic added that this opportunity may be late, but now it has been understood that the government and the Somali National Army are satisfied that effective progress will be made in the fight against the Khawarij Al-Shabaab and they welcome it as an organization.
Sheikh Shakir made this statement in an interview with the local TV station SMS, and stressed that the Ahlu Sunna forces have been prepared and will join the front lines of the war to assist the Somali National Army.
Sheikh Mohamed Shakir’s statement comes as there has been a lot of talk on social media in recent days that Ahlu Sunna is reorganizing to join the fight against Al-Shabaab.
