Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has strongly condemned the Al-Shabaab attack on Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud that took place a few days ago at the Ceel Gaabta intersection in the Xamar Jajab district.

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack that targeted the convoy of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, at the entrance to the Presidential Palace, causing damage to the lives and property of the Somali people,” said a statement issued by President Farmaajo.

President Farmaajo declared that this terrorist act poses a threat to the statehood and the existence of the nation, and noted that it was a reflection of the true face of the ruthless groups that are accustomed to brutally shedding the honorable blood of the Somali people.

“I send my deepest condolences to the families of the innocent civilians who were killed by the terrorist attack while fasting. I pray to God for a speedy recovery and a better future for the other citizens who were injured and whose property was destroyed,” the former Somali President continued.

He finally called on the Somali people to stand together to eliminate terrorist groups and stand with the brave forces who are fighting the front lines against terrorism.
