The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has recently arrived at the front lines of the war against the Al-Shabaab group, specifically in the Aden Yabaal district of the Middle Shabelle region.
A press release from the Somali Presidency stated that the purpose of the president’s visit to the Aden Yabaal district is to lead the operations to liberate the remaining areas from Al-Shabaab.
President Hassan Sheikh will observe the situation of the Somali National Army and the local people who have stood up to liberate their areas during his stay in the Aden Yabaal district, and will listen to reports on the operations from the commanders and leaders of the forces at the front lines of the war.
“The President of the Republic will focus on the living conditions in the areas liberated from terrorism in the past period, as the government has made great efforts to provide emergency services, basic services and care for our people living in the liberated areas who lived in difficult circumstances while they were in the hands of terrorists,” a statement from the Somali Presidency said.
However, the Aden Yabaal district, where the president visited today, was recently visited by the Commander of the Somali National Army, General Odawaa Yusuf Raage, and the Chairman of the Military Court, Hassan Ali Nur Shute, who were there to accelerate operations against Al-Shabaab.
The visit of the President of the Federal Government to Aden Yabaal district is approaching, as in recent times the Al-Shabaab group has increased its attacks on areas and districts in the Middle Shabelle region.
There are also reports that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will visit the Moqokori district of Hiran region in the coming hours, where a large number of troops are stationed, ready to fight against the Al-Shabaab group.
