A press release from the Somali Ministry of Information detailed special operations carried out by the Government Forces and international partners in Jilib, the capital of Middle Juba, which is the main center of Al-Shabaab’s senior leadership.
The press release stated that this well-planned operation carried out by the National Army and international partners targeted important Al-Shabaab facilities in Jilib, the capital of Middle Juba, namely, the district headquarters, the headquarters as the guerrillas call it, two facilities where they used to conduct training and bombings, and two houses where Leader Hassan Yaqub and Leader Amin lived.
The ministry also announced that this operation destroyed all the targeted areas, and there were heavy losses including deaths and injuries to the enemy militias and leaders, which the government is still counting.
“The Somali National Army and international partners have carried out targeted operations to destroy the most important Al Shabaab positions in the El Bacad area on the border of Middle Shebelle and Galgaduud regions and Mubarak area in Lower Shabelle region,” the Somali Ministry of Information said in a press release.
Finally, the Somali government warned the Somali people in areas where Al Shabaab is hiding to avoid approaching their centers or locations where Al Shabaab is present, as Al Shabaab is being targeted everywhere.
