Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, who met with businessmen in Bosaso today, told them that they would no longer be able to provide any financial support to the Islamic State group.

President Deni told the businessmen that Puntland security forces have destroyed places where businessmen were threatened to pay extortion. He stressed that any excuses related to paying extortion to ISIS will not be accepted.

“No businessmen will be able to find an excuse like ‘I was pressured, something was taken from me.’ Everyone should feel that there is no pressure. If it was previously claimed that I was called from the mountains, your sons are in the mountains and are speaking from there,” said President Deni.

Deni also noted that Puntland needs to recover from the economic hardships caused by ISIS. He pointed out that some Puntland businessmen fled the country out of fear, but now they need to return to the country and bring new business ideas.

The President of Puntland stressed that his government is making efforts to ensure security, so that security neglect does not occur again.
