The leader of SSC Khatumo, Abdiqadir Aw Ali Firdhiye, said that Somaliland is not honest about the peace it calls for.
Firdhiye, who was speaking to some of the people of SSC Khatumo on Thursday, said that the houses of some of the people who fled from Eerigabo have been looted, and that Somaliland is running a constant conflict.
“We want peace, they are looting our houses, they are threatening, they are calling for peace, and they are attacking. They are two people who cannot get along. It is peace in the mouth of the bar and a constant conflict,” said Firdhiye.
He said that SSC Khatumo is responsible for the regions of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn, and they have to control all those areas, part of which is controlled by Somaliland now.
The situation in Sool and Sanaag is still complicated, as some clans living in these regions have called for a war to conquer Eerigabo, where Somaliland troops are currently stationed.
The president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, said that he wants a peaceful solution to the situation in these regions, saying on the other hand that he will defend himself with military power if attacked. The president of Puntland, Syed Abdillahi Dani, on his part called for a peaceful end to the crisis.
Somaliland forces have already been driven out of the city of Lasanood and the east of Sool region. Later, the administration of SSC Khatumo was established there, and now he wants to expand his rule to the regions of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn, while Somaliland is trying to reach the borders established by the British.
