The trilateral meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Governments of Egypt, Somalia and Eritrea, which took place today in Cairo, was issued a press release.
In this one-day meeting, the ministers focused on accelerating the provisions of the agreement between the two governments in Asmara in October 2024.
The three ministers discussed the implementation measures to improve the security of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, and to protect the unity and independence of the countries in the region.
The ministers welcomed the progress made in the development of cooperation between Egypt and Somalia, Egypt is participating in peacekeeping and peace efforts in Somalia.
The three ministers also discussed how to contribute to the improvement of the institutions of the Somali government, to be able to eliminate terrorism, how to control all the areas it contains, and how to improve the quality and protecting its land and sea borders.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Abdel-Ati thanked Eritrea and Somalia for their support to the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director General of UNESCO, Dr. Khaled El-Enany.
The next conference is scheduled to be held in Mogadishu and this was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
