The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has appointed the new Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, who replaces the former Governor of the Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale.

The new chairman appointed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is said to be an expert in economic matters, social development and administration and management.

The president instructed the new governor to complete the development plans of the capital, prioritizing the development of the city and delivering public elections to the people of the capital.

“This President’s decree appointing the new Governor of Banadir Region, which is the Mayor of Mogadishu, came into force with the signature of the President of the Republic today on Tuesday, December 10, 2024,” said a statement issued by the Somali Presidency.

Finally, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud wished the new governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, to ease the heavy responsibility assigned to him, and urged him to serve the Somali community with efficiency and honesty.

The appointment of this new official is coming, as in the past few days there has been a lot of news that the governor of Banadir region, the mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale, will be removed from his position.
