The Commander of the Somali Police Force and the US Ambassador to Somalia have discussed efforts to remove Al Shabaab from the country and rebuild the police force, according to a statement issued by the Somali Police Command.

The statement issued by the Somali Police Command stated that the Chief of Police Asad Osman Abdullahi and the US Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley held a fruitful meeting and discussed the strong efforts of the Somali Government against Al Shabaab. to liberate the remaining areas in South and Central Somalia.

The two sides also discussed the reconstruction of the Police and the ongoing plan for the withdrawal of the African Union Forces from ATMIS and how to transfer the police forces to those areas.

Some areas that have been taken over by Al-Shabaab have been recaptured several times due to the need for the police to take over the areas that have been liberated from Al-Shabaab.

The United States government is one of Somalia’s friends that supports the military and the fight against Al-Shabaab.
