The outgoing President of Somaliland Muse Bihi received the US Ambassador to Somalia and the AFRICOM Commander.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi received the US Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Richard H. Riley, and the Commander of the Joint Forces Command in the Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), General Brian Cashman, along with other US officials.

The President first of all thanked the members of the American delegation for the cooperation and collaboration in the Horn of Africa security and military affairs between Somaliland and the United States. Also, he emphasized that the visit of the delegation will strengthen the future relationship between the two sides.

According to a press release from the Presidency, the delegation unanimously welcomed the President’s speech. Ambassador Richard H. Riley, and General Brian Cashman also declared their commitment to security cooperation in the Horn of Africa.

“Also, they praised the president of Somaliland for the role he played in the development of the country, democratic issues, joint elections, the strengthening of relations between the two countries and the political maturity of a country that has not yet joined the international community but has fulfilled all the requirements,” said the press release.

The leadership of AFRICOM has already visited Berbera several times with reports that the United States is interested in establishing a base in Berbera.
