The Minister of State for Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia Ilyas Sheikh Omar participated in the 40th meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the Arab countries in Cairo.

In this meeting, agendas such as Justice Cooperation and the fight against Corruption, Terrorism, Human Trafficking and Internet Banditry were discussed.

The council focused its meeting on strengthening the issues of Federalization of Somalia and how to participate in the process of reviewing and finalizing the Constitution of Somalia, and it was agreed to find a modern Constitution that is in line with international standards and serves the needs and interests of the Somali people.

“The council unanimously supported Somalia’s request and agreed to support Somalia in the reform of justice and the Judiciary and the implementation of the strategy of the Justice League recently formed by the Justice League, which will be the basis and foundation for a large-scale development in Somalia. steps” was said in a statement issued by the Office of the Minister of State for Justice and Constitutional Affairs of Somalia.

However, Somalia for the first time became a member of the High Commission of the Arab Center for Law and Judicial Research, which was established by a decision of the first meeting of the Arab Ministers of Justice in 1980.

This center is said to work on the establishment of laws and the development of the judiciary, and the membership that Somalia has received from the Supreme Council plays a major role in the development of justice in Somalia.
