The Supreme Court of Somaliland has declared that the results of the presidential election held on November 13 are valid.

According to a statement issued by the court and read to the media by Governor Adan Haji Ali, the court approved the results of the presidential election.

“It confirmed that Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Igal won the election of the President, while the Vice President was won by Mr. Mohamed Ali Abdi Mohamud who were both candidates from the Nationalist Party,” the court’s statement said.

The court said that there were no complaints from the parties that contested the election and therefore it agreed with the preliminary results issued by the Somaliland Electoral Commission.

The election, which was the most popular in Somaliland, was won by the Kulmiye party, which has been ruling Somaliland for almost 15 years, with President Bihi and his party congratulating the Wadani party for its victory.
