Members of the two houses of the Somali Parliament held a joint meeting today and passed the budget of the Federal Government of Somalia submitted by the Ministry of Finance of Somalia.
The quorum of the joint session of the two houses of the Parliament opened this morning with 175 members, 143 members of the House of Commons and 32 senators of the upper house, and it included the distribution of today’s agenda, which was the approval of the government budget.
The 1st Deputy Chairman of the BFS People’s Assembly Mrs. Saadiya Yasin Haji Samatar who presided over the session of the Parliament today heard the result of the unanimous vote of the members who attended the Parliament today for the approval of the Government’s budget for the year 2025.
Ms. Saadiya said, “The general quorum was 175, 172 in favor, 2 against and 1 honorable member,” and thus the government budget was passed.
The approval of the FS government’s budget was approved today by the majority of the members of the Somali Parliament.
The new budget passed today by Parliament for the year 2025 is one billion, three hundred and fifty nine million, seven hundred and fourteen thousand, three hundred and twenty eight dollars [$1,359,714,328].
Finally, the Minister of Finance of XFS Bihi Iman Cige thanked the members for today’s decision to pass the 2025 government budget.
