The Vice President of Puntland, Ilyas Ilmi Lugatoor, has officially suspended the work of Alight International, one of the organizations operating in the city of Lascaanood, after it was accused of violating the rules of Puntland.
The license that this organization used to work in Puntland was revoked according to the Acting President and Vice President Ilyas Osman Lugatoor.
This decision was notified to UNICEF and WFP, which support the projects of this organization in Sool region.
Puntland advised UNICEF, WFP, and other partner organizations to stop any ongoing or future cooperation with Alight International in Puntland regions.
On the other hand, the second deputy chairman of the upper house, Abdullahi Hirsi Timacade, opposed Puntland’s decision and said that no one other than the SSC Khaatumo administration can stop the Alight Agency from doing its work.
“The Alight organization that works in SSC Khatumo, there is no one other than the SSC Khatumo Administration who can remove them from the area and it is more than those who are hiding in the dust but have come out in the open. Alight is staying and will be protected,” said Timacadde.
It was recently when Khatumo’s administration accused Puntland of interfering in the internal affairs of their administration. Puntland has recently appointed officials for areas under Sool regions.
