Somalia has accused Ethiopia of breaking the provisions of the United Nations Security Council, and of going beyond the mandated tasks of being a member of the African Union ATMIS.

Ahmed Macalin Fiqi Ahmed, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, made the accusations at a meeting of the United Nations in New York last week.

He accused Ethiopia that his government has recently seized illegal weapons that were shipped to the border of Ethiopia and were intended to be used to fuel internal conflicts.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs told the UNSC that Mogadishu is engaged in consultations with the AU and the UN based on ATMIS security arrangements after 2025.

However, the Somali government has said that Ethiopian troops will not join the next African Union mission, unless Ethiopia withdraws from the agreement with Somaliland.
