The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, explained the meetings he had with the Ministers of Egypt and Eritrea.
Minister Fiqi said that the meetings he held with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Egypt and Eritrea discussed the violation of the Ethiopian government’s independence of Somalia, and he said that the countries of Egypt and Eritrea acknowledged the violation of Ethiopia in Somalia.
“Egypt and Eritrea we talked about Ethiopia’s aggression against our country, we also discussed the situation in East Africa” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia Ahmed Macallin Fiqi.
It was recently when Minister Fiqi delivered a speech at the United Nations Security Council meeting in which he criticized the Ethiopian government and said it violated the independence, solidarity and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
He also announced to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia that troops will be deployed to all the border areas between Somalia and Ethiopia, in order to strengthen national security and prevent illegal weapons being brought into the country from Ethiopia.
“Illegal weapons coming from Ethiopia are a great threat to our national security. We will take strict measures to control our borders, and we assure that anyone involved in these activities, regardless of their status, will be blacklisted and held accountable,” said Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi.
In recent months, the Ethiopian government has imported illegal weapons twice, which is a violation of Somalia’s independence, and the steps that have brought Ethiopia weapons into Somalia have been widely condemned by the Federal Government of Somalia.
