The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Minister of Petroleum of Somalia, Abdirizak Omar Mohamed, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar, and the Chairman of the Somali Petroleum Agency participated in a farewell ceremony for the ship Oruç Reis, which Traveled to Somalia.

The seismic survey vessel Oruç Reis, which departed from Filyos Port in Zonguldak, is expected to sail through the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, and the Red Sea.

The ship will dock near Somali waters at the end of October. His journey will take about 19 days.

This ship will carry out 3D seismic surveys in three specific areas, which are 15,000 km². This sea survey operation will last for about seven months, and the ship will collect important information about the exploration of oil and natural gas in Somali waters.

The data collected will be sent to Ankara, where it will be analyzed to guide future drilling operations.

Oruç Reis, which is 87 meters long and 23 meters wide, has been recognized as an important asset in Turkey’s maritime exploration efforts.
