The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi, said that the stars mocked the soldiers who went to jail for defending the nationalism of Somaliland.
Bihi, who was speaking to students studying the constitution at Hargeisa University, said that those who sang for the soldiers are not protecting the nation, calling on people to be careful about the messages they are spreading.
“Today, a man who sacrificed his life for the country and is in prison is singing for the nation, is he protecting the nation? Some things should be avoided, it is not politics, it is not a competition, the nation cannot be touched,” said President Bihi.
He said that the ballot papers will be seen as to who the people of Somaliland want, saying that it is appropriate to separate the candidates according to where they stand on the existence of Somaliland.
The Horn Stars Choir, which has joined forces with the opposition Waddani party, released a series of songs criticizing the government led by President Bihi.
The group specifically criticized the president for the defeat of the Somaliland forces in the Battle of Las-anod and the land that Somaliland lost during his rule.
