Members of the Somali People’s Assembly from the South West region have accused the NISA security agency of preventing them from traveling to Baidoa, which is their constituency.
Sareedo MP Mohamed Abdulle, one of the MPs who said that he was denied to travel to Baidoa, said, “People who don’t know the law prevented me from getting on the plane this morning. MPs from the South West are being targeted from now on as we enter the airport with our guns”.
MP Saadaq Abdullahi, who is also a member of the parliament, described it as an illegal violation to prevent the MPs from traveling to Baidoa. He accused the presidency of delaying the ban imposed on South West MPs.
This move comes as the relationship between the Federal Government of Somalia and the South West administration worsens.
According to our information, the President of the South has called for a consultation with the MPs who support his administration, to discuss the current political situation between Mogadishu and Baidoa.
Some of the MPs who oppose President Lafta Gareen said that meetings are being organized in Baidoa for the benefit of foreigners. They said that President Lafta Gareen himself started to deny the MPs to come to the city where they were elected.
