The delegation was welcomed at the Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia Ahmed Macalin Fiqi and other officials of the Federal Government.

A delegation was escorted to a center to be set up to meet with the senior leaders of the Federal Government and discuss the situation in the Horn of Africa and that within the IGAD Regional Organization.

“The purpose of the trip of Dr. Workneh Gebeyahu, the Secretary of the Regional Organization of IGAD, is to strengthen both sides, regional security, and climate change,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia.

However, the arrival of the IGAD delegation in Mogadishu comes a day after the governments of Ethiopia, South Sudan and Djibouti signed the new restructuring of the IGAD Regional Organization.
