The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, said that Somalia is ready for the withdrawal of ATMIS troops. He said that the government has made a plan to ensure that the security of the country does not decrease when the foreign troops leave the country.
Hamse Abdi Barre declared that the government of Somalia is fully responsible for the security of its country, saying that it will never be allowed that the Al-Shabaab group take advantage of any opportunity.
He pointed out that seven thousand ATMIS soldiers have already left Somalia, and the security responsibilities of those areas have been taken over by the Somali forces.
“Did you hear the places where AMISOM troops left, Al-Shabaab recaptured, no. We are telling the Somali people to trust us, to know that we are responsible for their security, and we will not allow Al-Shabaab to come and attack them,” said the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre made this statement in the city of Baidoa, where there are tensions regarding the presence of Ethiopian troops.
The South West administration has opposed the removal of Ethiopian troops from their areas, which has reduced the cooperation between the Federal Government and the South West administration.
