The Ethiopian government has criticized the leaders of the Somali government for working with what it calls the enemy of Ethiopia, saying it is committed to defending its independence.

The commander of the armed forces of Ethiopia, Field Marshal Birhanu made this statement during the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the Eastern Command of Ethiopia.

Field Marshal Birhanu Jula said that the army is ready to prevent any disturbance and to defend the independence of the nation.

He warned against what he called historical enemies who are trying to disrupt Ethiopia’s development with the help of internal mercenaries and traitors.

Speaking to military officers and officials including the Deputy Prime Minister, General Abebaw Tadesse, Birhanu urged them to continue preparations and showed how their army is sacrificing for the peace of Somalia.

However, Ethiopia sees a big threat to the cooperation between Somalia and Egypt, which makes it possible for Egypt to be part of the peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
