The European Union has discussed with President Hassan Sheikh to settle the situation between Ethiopia.

Josep Borrell Fontelles, who is the vice president of the European Union for foreign affairs and politics, had a telephone meeting with the president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The purpose of this meeting was to deal with the tensions in the region between Somalia and Ethiopia, while strengthening the fight against terrorism.

During their conversation, Josep Borrell Fontelles said how the European Union is committed to protecting the unity and independence of Somalia.

He underlined the importance of stability and cooperative security efforts against the growing challenges in the Horn of Africa region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud thanked the European Union for its continued support, pointing out the importance of joint efforts to fight terrorism and ensure the security of the country.

This conversation is coming at a critical time as the tension between Somalia and Ethiopia has reached its highest level. Ethiopia is very concerned about the new partnership between Somalia and Egypt, which it describes as a threat to the security and stability of the region.
