In an extraordinary meeting held this morning, the council rejected the dismissal of the MP, 51 members opposed the case, 3 members agreed, and 2 members remained silent. The total number of MPs present was 56.
Before he was arrested, the charges against the MP written by the prosecution were read in front of the assembly, and the main one is that he used to oppose everything that is in the interest of Somaliland, and inciting people.
This morning’s council meeting was precipitated by the arrest of the MP, who was arrested yesterday at the Igal airport in Hargeisa, after his return from the United Arab Emirates, and was immediately taken to Madheera prison in the Sahel region.
An armed group opposing the arrest of the parliamentarian was said to have blocked the road between Gabilay and Borama, and then troops from the western Somaliland military base in Goroyo-Awl went out.
The opposition, the chairman of the House of Representatives and the members of the House of Representatives condemned the arrest of the MP, which they said was a violation of the constitution.
