The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Taye Atskeselassie, accused the leaders of Somalia of worsening the tension between the two neighboring countries. He said that Somalia is cooperating with foreign organizations that want to create chaos in the region.
In a press conference held in Addis Ababa today, he said that some Somali leaders are actively working to increase the conflict, especially by undermining the contribution of Ethiopian soldiers who have been working to maintain peace in Somalia for ten years. years.
“Ethiopia has made sacrifices in peacekeeping efforts in Somalia. However, some Somali officials seem to be focusing their talk on reducing those efforts instead of finding effective solutions.” said Taye.
This diplomatic dispute has been exacerbated by Egypt’s long-standing conflict with Ethiopia over the construction of a large dam on the Blue Nile, which has further exacerbated tensions in the region.
Taye stressed Ethiopia’s commitment to resolving the conflict through peaceful and diplomatic means. He underlined the importance of maintaining stability in the region, stressing that access to the sea remains an important issue for Ethiopia, a country of 110 million people.
