The president of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, who is in Berbera, has described it as impossible that the agreement made by the government of Somalia will be implemented in Somaliland.
Muse Bihi described the proposal of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as interference, he said on Friday that the conflict between Ethiopia and Somalia can end with Ethiopia discussing maritime issues with Somalia.
“Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey came out to the whole world and intervened in the affairs of Somaliland, and intervened in Berbera and its port, and told Ethiopia to let Hassan Sheikh pass through. That is a mistake, Somaliland will not accept that,” said Muse Bihi.
He said that it will never be possible to rule Somaliland from Mogadishu.
After the conflict caused by the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia on the sea passage, which has been going on for the last 8 months between Somalia and Ethiopia, Turkey has recommended that Ethiopia be given a sea passage through Somalia, so that the dispute can be resolved.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia and Somalia will hold talks in Ankara on Monday, and the outcome of these talks, which is moderated by Turkey, is being awaited.
