The Prime Minister of the Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, has called for an immediate end to the senseless tribal war in Luuq district of Gedo region.
The Prime Minister said that the Federal Government of Somalia with the help of Jubaland regional government is taking urgent measures to ensure peace and stability in Luuq district.
Hamse instructed the Armed Forces to stand up for the prevention of wars and civil conflicts, which he said are an opportunity for al-Shabaab to continue hiding in the remaining areas of the country.
“Discussion and reconciliation is the key to peace and development. I urge all parties involved in the conflicts and civil wars in the country to stop immediately and avoid the trap that the Khawarij want to live in.” to further harass our people,” Hamse said.
Prime Minister Hamse instructed the Ministry of Interior to speed up the national reconciliation plan, to overcome the circumstances leading to instability.
The prime minister’s statement comes as there was a communal war in the city of Luuq yesterday due to a local dispute. Dozens of people died in the war. The government forces stationed there are said to have become involved in the conflict, lining up with the fighting militias.
