The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, responded to the recent statement by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, who said that there is no need for Somalia to make many trips to resolve the maritime dispute between them.
President Hassan Sheikh, who was speaking today at the 5th session of the People’s Assembly, said that Ethiopia is the one that went around the world asking for reconciliation with Somalia, and to convince them to discuss the controversial agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
“Ethiopia’s government is running around the world running away from its diplomatic mistakes and international rules, which the civilized world follows. . “Ethiopia is going around saying that it should reconcile with Somalia, the situation in Ethiopia today is that it is eating and drinking,” said President Hassan Sheikh.
President Hassan Sheikh said that the measures taken by the Ethiopian government are not ending in a peaceful way. The President said that Ethiopia has broken the trust and the implementation of international law.
However, Somalia and Ethiopia are expected to hold the second phase of talks in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, in August this year. President Hassan Sheikh called on Ethiopia not to miss the talks like Kenya’s IGAD.
