Military officers from the European Union Coast Guard, held a meeting on the coast of Bossao with Puntland police officers.
The meeting was focused on enhancing cooperation and information exchange between Puntland Police and EU NAVFOR.
The purpose of the meeting was to combat piracy, illegal fishing, and other marine threats in puntland waters.
“Discussions focused on how to strengthen cooperation between the Puntlan police force and the EU NAVFOR, to deal with piracy, illegal fishing, and other threats to Puntland waters. information sharing and joint operations,” said Abdul Qadir Jama Dirir, commander of the eastern region police force.
This meeting comes amid an increase in pirate kidnapping activities, with several kidnapping attacks reported earlier this year.
