The Jubbaland administrative parliament, which held a critical meeting today in Kismayo, the capital of Lower Jubba region, voted to amend some of the articles of the constitution of that administration.
The Jubbaland parliament has amended the provisions of article 70 which stated that the president of that administration can present himself twice, and today the parliament removed that article completely.
However, this article removed by the Jubbaland Parliament is a special challenge for the president of the Jubbaland administration, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, to run again for the position of the president of that administration.
There have also been amendments made to Article 65, which has made the term of appointment of the President to be five years, whereas it was previously four years, while the candidacy for the President is open and unlimited.
In the end, the Jubbaland Parliament, which voted unanimously, the results of their session were shared with the media by the chairman of the Parliament, who said that the vote was overwhelming to accept the changes to those provisions.
