The government of Ethiopia has responded for the first time to a recent complaint submitted by the government of Somalia to the United Nations, which is related to the illegal entry of Ethiopian troops into Somalia.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Nebyu Tedla, described the accusation of the Somali government that Ethiopian troops illegally crossed into Somalia as baseless.
“There is nothing wrong with that. As you know in Somalia, we have ATMIS and non-ATMIS forces. This is no different. We spoke with the senior officers of our army in the area,” said the spokesman of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nebyu Tedla.
Spokesperson Nebyu Tedla added that the army was the one who is working to prevent the security threats that may be facing the country.
“The information they shared with us is no different than before. It was a routine move to prevent a security threat that may have happened in the past,” said Spokesman Nebyu Tedla.
The statement made by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia coincides with the fact that in the middle of this month, Ethiopian troops, estimated to be about four thousand soldiers, crossed illegally from the government of the Somali region of Ethiopia, who went to Matabaan district, but returned after hours. withdrew from it.
