President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, dressed in military uniform, went on an unannounced trip to Harardhere district in Mudug region.
The president’s trip is expected to be part of the acceleration of operations against the Al-Shabaab group and the encouragement of government and local forces.
President Hassan Sheikh who is accompanied by the president of Galmudug will also go to Eeldheer district in Galgaduud region, and they will board a United Nations helicopter from Mogadishu.
President Hassan Sheikh’s trip has arrived, as al-Shabaab has recaptured most of the areas in southern Mudug that were liberated years ago, where many soldiers and military officers died.
The areas that have been evacuated and recaptured by Al-Shabaab include Amara, Badaweyne, Aad, Shabeelow, and the areas under it. The troops evacuated the areas complaining of lack of pay and corruption against their suppliers.
President Hassan Sheikh is expected to meet with the army and their officers and urge them to quickly return to the areas that have been evacuated, and to liberate the areas where Al-Shabaab is still present.
