The four chapters were voted one by one, and then the four chapters were voted together by the two houses of the Parliament.

212 members of the House of People and 42 members of the Upper House voted for the amendment of the Constitution, and there was no one who refused or remained silent as the Committee announced to the Parliament.

Among the amendments to the articles of the constitution approved by both houses of parliament, is that the next President will be elected by the Somali people, and the Prime Minister will appoint the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Also, the members of the Elections and Boundaries Committee at the federal level have been reduced to 18 members.

On the other hand, the opposition politicians, who have already warned against the implementation of the constitutional amendment, are expected to respond to the decision of the parliament, as they are going to talk to the media and oppose the decision.

The opposition politicians have already accused President Hassan Sheikh of his plan to amend the constitution, that he wants to prolong his tenure.
