The minister of constitution and justice of the government of Somalia, Hassan Macallin Mohamud said that there is no consultation without any amendments to the constitution of Somalia.

The minister said that the debate on the revision of the amendment is over, and now it is up to the parliament to approve the revision of the constitution, describing it as a historic step that has not happened in Somalia before.

Hassan Macallin, who was asked about the absence of Puntland in the discussion of the constitution, said that Puntland was part of the consultation on the revision of the constitution from the beginning.

He said that it is not possible for the process of the Somali nation to be a holder of the rejection of the Puntland administration.

He said, Puntland has representation in both houses of parliament, and they are the ones representing the constitutional debate that is currently being decided.

“If one of the members decides not to take his role, will that member become a hostage for the rest of Somalia and the entire process?” I don’t think it is possible,” said the Minister of the Constitution of Somalia.

Hassan Macallin said, the only action that Puntland has the right to take is to be called to participate in the process of reviewing the constitution. He said that the government has already done that and many times Puntland has been called to the meeting of the National Consultative Council.

The statement of the Minister of the Constitution of Somalia comes as Puntland said a few days ago that it will not recognize any illegal changes made to the constitution.
