The Federal Council of Ministers of Somalia has approved an oil drilling agreement with Turkey.

The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia has approved an agreement on the production of oil and gas, which was recently signed by the governments of Somalia and Turkey.

This agreement was approved this afternoon by the Somali Council of Ministers and was signed at the beginning of this month in Turkey by the Ministers of Petroleum and Minerals of the two countries of Turkey and Somalia.

“The most important clauses of this approved agreement states that the Turkish government will assist us in oil production, exploration and exploitation, so that the Somali people can benefit from their natural resources,” said a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of the Government of Somalia, Abdirisaq Omar Mohamed, who presented the agreement to the cabinet, said that it is one that will lead Somalia to benefit from its resources and boost the country’s economy.

This urgent meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, and the amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Bill and the Regulation of Public Registration and National Identity were also passed.
