The Jubbaland military court has sat for the first hearing of the case of Chief Adan Mohamed Gedi, who is said to be a member of the Al-Shabaab group.
Adan Mohamed Gedi, a 44-year-old member of Al-Shabaab, was captured by the Jubbaland army while fighting for the Al-Shabaab group, according to the Jubbaland military court.
Ugas Adan Mohamed who spoke before the court admitted that he was a member of the Al-Shabaab group and used to operate around Yoontoy area.
“I am not an Al-Shabaab man, I have not been to Yoontoy Road or that area. He was a wild man who was a herdsman who was protecting his property with those men, and then it was difficult for me,” said Ugas Adan who spoke before the Jubbaland military court.
This man was captured by the army while injured in 2021, when he was the leader of members of Al-Shabaab who wanted to attack a military base in Yoontoy area of Lower Jubba region.
Finally, Colonel Abdullahi Mohamud Ibrahim, the chairman of the Jubbaland military court, closed the court session, saying that the hearing of the case will continue and they will meet again.
