The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a meeting with his country’s counterpart, Isaias Afwerki, last night at the President’s House in Eritrea.
The two presidents discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, issues in the region and the world as a whole, as announced in a statement issued by the presidency of Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud first informed President Afwerki about the war between the Somali government and the Al-Shabaab group and the compromises made.
After their meeting, the two presidents of Somalia and Eritrea marched through public places of entertainment in the city of Asmara, the capital of Eritrea.
There are many troops in Eritrea who have been training there for years, while the first units that completed training in Eritrea were returned to the country at the end of last year in 2023.
