The Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held a special meeting on the incident that happened on Wednesday at the Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu, which greatly affected the passengers who wanted to fly from the airport and were stuck for many hours.
The Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe presided over the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
The members of the Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly discussed the incident at the Aden Adde Airport and the committee was informed about the incident by the Chairman of the Committee on Transport, Aviation, Airports, Ports, Energy and Public Works of the People’s Assembly, Abdullahi Geel Kaad.
MP Geel Khad informed the members of the committee about the tension that has been going on in the Aden Adde airport for the past two days which has affected civilians who have been stuck in the airport for several hours due to illegal reasons.
The members of the committee first of all expressed regret over the incident in which the people traveling to the regions of the country were harassed.
“A questioning session in accordance with Article 63 of the Bylaws of the House of People, to ask questions about the reason why the people traveling to the regions within the country are being harassed during their journey, including the elderly. children and sick people” was said in a statement from the meeting of the Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly.
This meeting coincides with the last Wednesday and Tuesday in the airport where there was tension between the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the airline companies after the airline companies were increased to charge a fee of 9 dollars per passenger.
