Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre accused Ethiopia of being determined to destroy the attempt to continue the talks between Somalia and Somaliland that recently started in Djibouti.
Prime Minister Hamse said he believes that Somaliland has been betrayed by what happened in Addis Ababa, calling on them to return to negotiations.
Hamse said that the Somali government has been very patient with Ethiopia.
“We really tried to be patient as much as possible. Their forces are with us, we have not said to leave. Their ambassador is there, I didn’t say leave and I didn’t revoke their ambassador. Their planes are coming, I didn’t say they are from us. We regulate the interest of our people to be in harmony. We still have hope that they will withdraw from the agreement that is not based on the law,” said the prime minister.
Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre said that the government of Somalia is committed to talking with the leaders of the Somaliland administration.
Hamse said that the people of Somaliland are people who love the unity of Somalia, but have not had the opportunity to speak.
