The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Antalya.
The meeting, which took place at the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, discussed the strengthening of relations between Turkey and Somalia, efforts against terrorism, as well as regional and international concerns.
During the meeting, President Erdogan confirmed Turkey’s continuous support to Somalia, focusing in particular on strengthening defense cooperation.
President Erdogan expressed that Turkey is ready to participate in mediation efforts to reduce the crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia.
Speaking about Israel’s aggressive actions in Palestine, President Erdogan underlined the need to establish an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders as a basis for peace. lasting.
The meeting came days after Somalia and Turkey signed a defense agreement, with Somalia wanting Turkey to protect Somalia’s coastal security.
