The operation that arrested the leader, whose name is Mowlid Ali Dhuxulow, took place between the areas of Masagawa and Waniinle in Galgaduud region.

Leader Mowliid Ali Dhuxulow is also said to have been a long-time leader of the Al-Shabaab group fighting in the areas of Galgaduud region.
The areas of Galgaduud and Mudug regions have been fighting for more than a year against the Al-Shabaab group, and during the ongoing war, Al-Shabaab has been liberated from large areas of the two regions that were previously controlled by the group.
